Why Clean Your Clubheads?
Club manufacturers spend millions of dollars a year trying to find the optimum design for clubs and grooves, but for many golfers the benefits are negated by playing with dirty clubs. Have you ever seen a professional golfer playing with dirty clubs? The answer is no.  The grooves on your club are CRITICAL in allowing you to play your best golf!  The grooves are designed with two very important functions in mind.

Firstly, the grooves act like tyre treads to drive air, liquid & debris away from the contact surface for perfect shots.  A perfect shot requires the contact between the ball and the club to be free of any debris.  If any dirt, grass or even liquid gets in the way, it will have a detrimental effect on the flight of the ball.

Secondly, the grooves are designed to “Bite” into the ball to create spin.  All golfers would love to create the kind of spin that professionals seem to manage around the greens but this is impossible to achieve with dirty clubs.  Spin also directly impacts the height of your golf shot, its hang time and the distance the ball will travel.  If your club grooves are dirty it is going to severly affect the distance and direction of your shot resulting in mis-hits, and bad golf!

But cleaning clubs used to be such a chore that no wonder so many budding golfers chose to endure poor performance from their clubs rather than spending an half  hour or more cleaning them!  However, with ultrasonic golf club cleaning golfers can clean their clubs in the time it takes to clean their shoes and trolley with the compressed air hose.

Why Clean Your Grips?

The grips on your golf clubs are made to exert the maximum amount of tackiness while also absorbing and driving moisture away from the surface. But this means they absorb and store the sweat, oils, dirt and germs from your hands too!

Over time grips will naturally wear down and require replacement, but the biggest issue in the life of grips is that the sweat and oils from your hands is corrosive and degrade the grips, which if left untreated then hardens  them making them shiny and slippery and in turn the grip loses its tackiness and ability to absorb moisture.

Also if your grips are worn out and slick you will be inclined to squeeze the club too tight, creating a lot of tension in your arms and shoulders, which will enevitably cause a bad shot. Grips should therefore be cleaned regularly, preferably every time the club heads are cleaned.  Clean grips deliver better moisture control in wet conditions or in hot weather when hands perspire.  They also provide maximum tackiness, reducing tension in the arms and allowing more control and responsiveness to reduce errors.

For more practical reasons, cleaning grips also makes them last much longer because corrosive perspiration, oils and grime are removed.  Finally dirty grips can contain literally tens of millions of bacteria, which get transferred to your hands and therefore everything else you touch, so cleaning your grips regularly is simply more hygienic!
